Technical Guide
Studio rental: rules and equipment
Everything you need to know to maximize your session in our Madrid city center facilities, from lighting gear management to common space etiquette.
Reading time: 4 minutes
Renting a professional space in the Centro district of Madrid requires more than just an artistic vision; it demands a clear understanding of logistics and respect for technical gear. At Batwomanhub, we provide photographers, content creators, and agencies with an optimized environment featuring 4.5-meter ceilings and a 120 m² area, designed to allow expansive movement and complex lighting setups.
To ensure every session runs smoothly and the material remains in perfect condition for the next user, we have established a framework of rules and a detailed equipment description. This guide serves as a technical annex to our studio rental service, ensuring that the client knows exactly what to expect upon entering our rooms.
Space Capabilities and Zoning
Our studio is divided into two main rooms and a cyclorama area. The ceiling height (4.5 m) is fundamental for using large light modifiers, such as 150 cm softboxes or deep umbrellas, preventing the structure from touching the ceiling or interfering with overhead lighting. The cyclorama is maintained in neutral white to facilitate post-production, although we allow the use of paper backgrounds via our suspended support system.
It is important to remember that, due to our location on Calle de Fuencarral, access is easy via public transport, but the internal space is shared in terms of common areas such as the lounge and the dressing room. We request that technical equipment remains organized within the perimeter of the rented room to avoid obstructing the hallways.
Available Lighting Equipment
The studio is equipped with a hybrid lighting system, combining strobe (impulse) and continuous light technology. This allows clients to perform both still photography and video without needing to transport heavy external gear. We have high-power studio flashes, triggers compatible with the most common brands, and a variety of modifiers including octaboxes, beauty dishes, and standard reflectors.
For those working with continuous light, we provide LED panels with adjustable color temperatures, ideal for corporate portraits or social media content. All electrical equipment is properly grounded and distributed across strategic outlets to prevent the excessive use of external power strips, thereby minimizing the risk of short circuits or tripping during the session.
| Category | Included Equipment | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Strobe Lighting | Flashes, triggers, softboxes | Standard use included |
| Continuous Light | Adjustable LED panels | Ideal for video and digital content |
| Supports | Tripods, C-stands, clamps | Responsible use mandatory |
| Backgrounds | White cyclorama and supports | Check available paper colors |
Cyclorama and Background Rules
The cyclorama is the most delicate asset in the studio. To maintain its whiteness and smooth surface, the use of dirty footwear, paint, water, or any substance that could stain the surface is strictly prohibited without prior notice and agreement on the repainting cost. We recommend using socks or clean shoes exclusively for the interior of the set.
If the session requires the use of paper backgrounds, the client may request the deployment of the desired color. In the event that the paper suffers tears or irreversible stains due to misuse, the cost of replacing the affected section will be charged to the client. The deployment and collection of backgrounds are managed by our team to prevent damage to the rollers.
Entry and Exit Logistics
Punctuality is essential in professional studio management. The rental time begins exactly at the reserved hour. If a client arrives late, the time will not be recovered at the end of the session, as we have commitments with other users. Similarly, we request that the session ends 10 minutes before the deadline to allow for material collection and space ventilation.
External equipment brought by the client must be properly organized. We do not allow the storage of material in the studio between sessions unless a prior custody service has been agreed upon. Upon completion, the client is responsible for leaving the space in the same orderly condition in which it was found.
Safety and Civil Liability
Batwomanhub is responsible for the preventive maintenance of its facilities, but the use of technical equipment is the client's responsibility once delivered. Any damage caused by negligence in the handling of flashes or supports must be reported immediately. We recommend that external photographers have their own civil liability insurance to cover possible incidents with their models or assistants.
In compliance with Madrid safety regulations, access to the facilities is limited to the number of people indicated in the reservation. An excess of people on set not only hinders the work but can compromise safety in the event of an evacuation.
Final Client Checklist
- Verify that all cables are coiled and do not obstruct the path.
- Turn off all flashes and LED panels before leaving.
- Ensure no personal belongings are left in the dressing area.
- Notify staff about any technical failure detected during the session.
- Clean any waste generated during the production.
For those who, in addition to renting the space, need advice on image aesthetics, we recommend reading our guide on how to prepare for your portrait session, which complements the technical side with visual tips.
